Preparing to Turn the Lights ON!

Theatre Counterpoint’s Don’t Turn The Lights On (11-13 August 7.30pm) and it’s journey to The Bread & Roses Theatre.
- About shopping trips and the right to wearing high-heels.

We, the creative team of Theatre Counterpoint, went through many many very different versions of our show Don’t Turn The Lights On.  So many, we considered renaming it or indexing it!  We ended up doing neither of these but we had (and still have) lots of fun while we get ready to turn the lights on at The Bread and Roses Theatre 11-13 August…

First thing our company did in 2016 was, naturally, to get a 50 metre red rope.  We had no idea what attracted us to the rope at first but it became a very essential part of our show.

It always take us at least 15 minutes to untangle it but it is absolutely worth it!  A sneak peek into our rehearsal below shows that as part of the process of devising theatre we found many possible functions of the rope:

In order to supply our show with all the best materials, we also ventured on a shopping trip which ended with a twitter poll!  The two performers, Jay and Mira, went to find a pair of high-heels for both of them and asked twitter the following question:

We went through a few bugs in the last few weeks which may have affected our productivity but we kept working on the show, testing the functions of our 50 metre red rope and the gender rules on wearing high-heels with the help of our amazing director Dadiow!

Excited to see you at The Bread and Roses Theatre!

PS If you have ideas for twitter polls, tweet to us at @Theatre_CPoint!

Don't Turn the Lights On runs Thursday 11th to Saturday 13th August at 7.30pm.
