The Platform
SubThe in-house Bread & Roses Theatre Company (BRTC) has been running regular new writing night The Platform since October 2012 in what was originally nothing more than the upstairs function room at the Bread & Roses Pub. This was the project that inspired the transformation of the space and eventual launch of The Bread & Roses Theatre on the 1st of November 2014!
The Platform usually takes place two times per year and features a selection of some of new short plays and work-in-progress showings. It has quickly established itself as an opportunity to discover, develop and explore new scripts, whilst also providing actors, directors and writers with an opportunity to showcase their work. The Bread & Roses Theatre has since also gone on to produce several 5 star reviewed full-length productions and many of the creatives from The Platform have built lasting relationships with the venue.
Short plays for The Platform are currently selected through our Playwrights Circle. Submissions are currently open from 9th December 2024, deadline 26th January 2025.
