- Prime slots (Tue-Sat, 7.30pm): these are programmed 6-9 months in advance.
- Alternate slots (4/5 performances), 1-3 night slots & kids shows: often still last minute availability
For all details on how we work, please have a look at our Marketing Pack and you can submit your project proposal directly on our website (see tabs above). Also do let us know if you have any work coming up that we could come and see.
We curate our programming and tend to book our main season 6-9 months in advance, so make sure to get in touch asap if interested in a one- to three-week-run. The theatre and pub are separate businesses, so we rent the space from the pub and receive no money from any bar sales. Nonetheless, we are offering the theatre to visiting companies without any fees and companies always take home money!
As a standard deal we offer box office splits, without any deposits or reserves. Upon request we consider offering set hire fees at very competitive rates as well. Besides box office splits we offer a lot of additional support (see Marketing Pack p. 7), but as we do not receive any funding we are not able to support companies financially. We also consider co- or associate productions, but again will not be able to offer funding. Please also note, that plays for our in-house productions are selected through our Playwriting Award and we cannot accept unsolicited play submissions beyond that without a producer or production company attached.
- Prime Slot - usually Tue to Sat 7.30pm / + possible matinées
- Alternate Slot - Tue, Wed, Thu 9.30pm + Fri, Sat 5pm
- Custom 1-/2-/3-Day Slot - usually Sun, Mon 7.30pm
- Children's & Family Theatre - daytime during weekends and school holidays
Feedback from previous companies & producers
'Bread and Roses is everything a venue should be: genuinely diverse, immensely supportive, financially fair to artists, pro-active - and utterly professional. As a solo LGBT writer, performer and producer without secure funding or resources, I am deeply appreciative of the way in which Bread and Roses has embraced and supported my work so positively and warmly.' - Rose Collis (December 2017, after bringing several shows)
