After a successful run at the Rialto Theatre in Brighton, as part of the Brighton Fringe Festival, Martin Lingus will be finding a (temporary) new home at The Bread & Roses Theatre in Clapham in July.
Time is running out for Martin. He needs to find a lady. A lady with a house. But his boyish charm isn’t working like it used to.
In this dark comedy about love, inner demons and period features, West End actor Clive Marlowe plays the character of Martin Lingus, as well as his mother and his various girlfriends – without the use of props or costumes.
The character of Martin Lingus started life as a 10-minute monologue in a Brighton Fringe show called Sex in Shorts, which was nominated for Brighton & Hove Independent’s Outstanding Local Talent Award in 2015.
This short monologue, ‘A Lady with a House’, was selected for performance at Leicester Square Theatre, as part of Director’s Cut Theatre’s show The Interview.

The new hour-long version featuring Martin’s mother and girlfriends, which was shortlisted for New Writing South’s Best New Play Award 2018, was performed for the first time at Brighton Fringe, and is now coming to Clapham’s The Bread and Roses Theatre on Clapham Manor Street on three consecutive Sundays in July – 8th, 15th, 22nd at 4pm & 7pm.
