We are thrilled to announce that on Saturday 1st November 2014 The Bread & Roses Theatre will officially be launching as a new theatre and performance venue in Clapham, South London. The launch night will begin at 7.30pm and include a new instalment of our regular new writing night The Platform, followed by the launch party at which free drinks and appetisers will be served.
The Bread & Roses Theatre aims to program a wide-spread variety of productions and seeks to entertain local and far-reaching audiences as well as providing theatre-makers with a space to develop and present their work. The venue is run by fellow theatre-makers on a voluntary basis.
Located upstairs at the Bread & Roses pub in Clapham, and within walking distance of several tube and overground stations in Zone 2 (Clapham North, Clapham Common, Clapham High Street and Wandsworth Road), the theatre sits in a brilliant location.
It is also home of the in-house Bread & Roses Theatre Company (BRTC), which focuses on supporting new and contemporary writing. The BRTC has been running regular new writing night The Platform since 2012, and since other companies and groups have started putting up scratch performances and showcases out of whichthe idea to create a permanent pub theatre at the venue was born.
After some major refurbishing work of the space and the investment in lights and stages - all sponsored by the fabulous Bread & Roses Pub - we are now ready to officially launch the theatre on the 1st of November 2014!
Tickets for the launch night cost £8 (including drinks and appetisers) and are available here:www.breadandrosestheatre.co.uk/the-platform
To find out what else we have coming up in our already very busy opening season (November/December 2014) visit: www.breadandrosestheatre.co.uk/whats-on
We are also offering an extremely attractive deal to visiting companies and producers, no up-front hire fees just a straight forward box office split and you can even use the theatre for free on certain week nights!
