Opportunity: Associate Producer at The Bread & Roses Theatre in Clapham (South London, UK)
The Bread & Roses Theatre is an innovative and award-winning fringe pub theatre in Clapham, South London, founded in 2014, which has since quickly established itself on the London fringe theatre scene. Artistic quality, equality and diversity are at the forefront of the theatre's programming, which features visiting companies as well as in-house productions, with a focus on new writing, underrepresented voices and distinctive work. The theatre is run by a small part-time team, which since 2015 is supported by an associate producer. This is a part-time commitment, recompensed on a project-by-project basis.

There is an option for additional regular responsibilities (outside of projects) that contribute to the running of the theatre. Tasks include:
As the theatre currently has no core funding our small part-time team all work under similar circumstances and the money we make is split evenly and solidarily. Projects in 2025 include:
- Co-Producer of Lambeth Fringe Festival (takes place September/October 2025, pre-production from January 2025)
- Producer of in-house production's 2025 (taking place in March and November pre-production from December 2024)
- Additionally, an interest in co-producing or assisting our biannual new writing night, The Platform, our charity VDAY events, our Playwriting Award , Networking Events and the general running of the theatre is desirable, though this can be decided upon on a case-by-case basis.
The responsibilities of the Associate Producer will include:
In-house productions:
- Liaising with cast and creatives, coordination of schedules and team members for in-house productions
- Planning, sourcing and realising production needs of in-house productions
- Anticipating and managing artistic needs within the constraints of schedules and budgets
- Assisting with in-house production delivery and providing on-site support
- Support sourcing and identifying appropriate team members, where necessary
The Lambeth Fringe Festival:
- Support management of the application process of the Lambeth Fringe Festival and contribute to the curation and delivery of the festival
- Supporting companies and artists taking part in the Lambeth Fringe Festival by coordinating contracts and production requirements
- Representing The Bread & Roses and the Lambeth Fringe in phone, written and sometimes radio or TV interviews
- In collaboration with the senior team, ensuring clear communication between up to 150 productions and multiple venues (up to 23 in 2024’s Festival)
- Liaising with artists on marketing and PR support, maximising ticket sales
- Working with theatre management to ensure the smooth running of festival performances: troubleshooting day-to-day operations during the festival, supervising production Get-Ins, jointly overseeing festival and theatre inboxes, answering queries and general problem-solving via email and in person at the venues, as required
All projects:
- Managing and planning production budgets alongside the Senior Team, as well as fundraising
- Attending regular coordination and planning meetings with the management of the theatre and other team members
- Possible creation and distribution of press releases, as well as coordinating press requests and attending press nights, as required.
- Promoting projects through online and printed marketing, social media assistance and word-of-mouth, as required

- Possibility to be part of the team running an award-winning fringe theatre and insights into the works and processes of the management of a theatre venue overall
- Possibility to be involved in the theatre in capacities beyond producing, if desired and interested in other areas (such as acting, directing, writing)
- Flexibility to work around other projects with no obligatory presence time (we have no set office hours and work largely remotely; all presence meetings are coordinated according to everyone’s schedules)
- A set fee per project + profit-share based on takings and fundraising
Optional secondary role:
There is an option for additional regular responsibilities (outside of projects) that contribute to the running of the theatre. Tasks include:
- Listing all productions and events with Off West End, Facebook events, Data Thistle
- Supervising the Front of House rota
- Engaging a reliable pool of freelance FOH operatives and volunteers on an ongoing basis
- Oversee the PRS Music reports, collating artist and company PRS declarations, and submitting them to PRS and the senior Bread & Roses Team
- Assisting with company get-ins at The Bread & Roses, as required
