RAISE THE VIBRATION: V-DAY 2025 SUBMISSION CALL-OUT

The Bread & Roses Theatre are looking for monologues or spoken word pieces by women (cis & trans), nb or gender fluid performers or writers to help us Raise the Vibration.

Throughout V-DAY’s history, activists and artists have used this platform to shed light on the connection between gender based violence and political instability, armed conflict, xenophobia, unsafe working conditions, transphobia, homophobia, and racism.

Raise the Vibration has replaced our annual Vagina Monologues event in-line with vday.org so we can foreground new voices in the conversation around ending violence against women (cisgender and transgender), those who hold fluid identities, nonbinary people, girls and the planet.

Submissions can form any part of your experience around sexual, physical, racial, economic, political, socio-cultural, ideological and climate crisis violence.

How to submit:
Writers: submit in writing or audio to be cast by Bread & Roses team
Writer/performers: submit via video submission (you performing your piece)

Work must be no longer than 10 minutes and is limited to one submission per person. If selected, this will be performed as part of V-DAY 2025 (February 14th or 15th 2025)  - an annual charity event with all proceeds going to refuge.org.uk

This is an artistic rising, and all participation is voluntary as per V-DAY.org rules and guidelines ; to apply please email submission to [email protected] with the heading RAISE THE VIBRATION 2025, deadline midnight 8th December 2024

V-DAY 2025 COLLECTIVE CALL OUT

Are you a women (cis & trans) led or nb led theatre collective?

The Bread & Roses Theatre is inviting proposals from women-led companies who would like to curate an evening of entertainment as part of our V-DAY 2025 week. The company will work with us to raise awareness and funds for a charity (of your choice) that sheds light on gender-based violence.

Throughout V-DAY’s history, activists and artists have used this platform to look at the connection between gender-based violence and political instability, armed conflict, xenophobia, unsafe working conditions, transphobia, homophobia, and racism.

We support applications from companies who want to showcase work surrounding:
  • Foregrounding new voices in the conversation around ending violence against women and girls (cis & trans)
  • Celebrations of women, queerness and those who hold fluid identities
  • Experimental work looking at political, socio-cultural and climate crisis violence

We encourage companies to offer opportunities to artists of many forms including but not limited to, spoken word, performance, music, cabaret and movement. You may consider proposing a variety night, scratch night, a community project showing, a WIP idea, talks or panels - the choice is yours!
